Many San Gabriel Valley residents are looking for ways to protect themselves after a man was shot and two women were zip tied during a home invasion in Temple City.
The zero-bail clause was removed and proponents say the amended version is now intended to help the innocent afford the bail process. But critics argue that the amended version puts public safety at risk.
Neighbors say nothing has been done to address the ongoing safety concerns, leaving them feeling neglected by the property owner and the city.
The shooting happened at 1:08 a.m. in the 7000 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
Police say the vehicle that hit the woman was driving southbound on Western Avenue when it hit her, then sped off.
Police say he used an AR-15-style rifle and killed two people inside and was later found dead with the rifle nearby.
It's unclear how much jewelry the robbers made off with after smashing through the glass but the robbery took place Friday evening at the Kevin Jewelers store at the Plaza West Covina Mall that is located right off the 10 Freeway.
Police in Garden Grove originally initiated the pursuit.
Drastic cuts made two years ago forced the Los Angeles school police to rethink their service model by removing permanently stationed officers from inside schools.
"Luke Ferguson is a cold-blooded murder and he will spend the rest of his life in prison where he will no longer be able to harm innocent people," OC DA Todd Spitzer said.
Michael Isiah Moore, 27, of Fairfield, and Amough Keyana Bonton, 21, of Sacramento, were both out on bail for gun charges at the time of the robbery.
The bones were discovered on Jan. 22, 1991 -- two weeks after what would have been Coffey's 37th birthday.
His 26-year-old sister is set to go on trial this February in the case.
Detectives are actively investigating the two Monday morning shootings, which occurred just a block apart.
Richard Martinez, 45, was arrested Tuesday after detectives identified him in connection with the Aug. 15 robberies.
