TVD: Catch Your Breath!
This week's episode took my breath away! In last week's cliffhanger, Elena was found barely breathing with a bloody nose, but Dr. Meredith Fell lets everyone breathe a sigh of relief when she tells then that she has a concussion. Now hold your breath, it seems the good doctor is doing evil keeping vampire blood.
In the meantime, the originals are breathing down the Vamp Bros necks. They are out to get Elena because of her super link to super vampire killing freak Alaric. So when Elena stops breathing, Alaric stops breathing and with Alaric gone, everyone could breathe again.
You can cut the air with a knife when one of the original brothers, Elijah, shows up with an air of superiority and wants Klaus's body in exchange for Elena's safety. Elena errs on the side of safety and strikes the deal, which the vampire boys feel is an error.
Bonnie and Damon wait with bated breath for Caroline to pick up Klaus' body who's lying in a storage locker in a coffin. When the coffin is opened and aired out, a petrified Klaus's eye open! Bonnie asks for a few moments alone with Klaus and she says under her breath that she is not sure what to do about the bad vamp who sired so many, including siring her mother and if he dies, her mother dies. Sigh. Damon and Bonnie leave the locker when Alaric shows up. Damon gives Alaric air quotes "to search for Klaus in the 1000's of storage lockers."
Elena keeps airing her dirty laundry from the past in dreamy flash backs about high school days and stringing Matt along in high school. She awakens wanting to clear the air realizing she must choose between Salavatore heirs.
Elena's safety is driving Jeremy and Matt crazy, so they drug her drink, drag her to his truck and drive her out of town. While Alaric is searching the storage lockers for Klaus, Rebekah shows up. Damon grabs her and they get the coffin carrying Klaus, out of the storage bin. Alas, Alaric finds them in the open air…opens the coffin and opens a hole in his chest staking Klaus. Klaus takes his last breath.
On the road, Elena wakes up from her drug induced state and gets a call that states that Klaus has been staked. She shakes. If Klaus is dead, and he sired our vamp brothers then both will die. She is halfway between the two brothers and Elena is forced to make a choice who she will say good bye to. Elena calls Damon and tearfully airs her decision that she is going to Stefan.
Tyler and Caroline's parents pack a punch when they tell them a pack of perturbed vampire council members want to put them to permanent rest and those crazy love sick kids must pack up and leave town. They agree to meet at Tyler's lair and leave. Later, Caroline meets Tyler at the lair and she looks him dead in the eye and tells him that Klaus is dead –which a death sentence for Tyler. Deadpan Tyler suddenly winces in pain as if he's going to die, but suddenly he changes into a werewolf. Caroline runs. Later, Bonnie returns to Tyler's lair. It seems Tyler is liar…he's Klaus in Tyler's body! Bonnie spoke a switcheroo spell transferring Klaus's sparkling personality to Tyler's six pack abs. So, apparently Klaus wasn't stuck, it was Tyler that was staked.
Now the Originals are ferklempt that Klaus is kaput, so the contract to not kill Elena is kaput, capiche. So the Originals go with the original plan to kill Elena and that will kill Alaric. So Caroline causes Elena and Damon's car to crash in the same river that Elena's parents crashed and died years before. Underwater, Stefan comes to the rescue to save Elena, but she insists on saving Matt.
Still underwater, Elena is out of breath and takes her last breath and dies, killing Alaric. A ghostly apparitions Alaric appears to Jeremy and Jeremy realizes Elena must be dead. Damon realizes Elena is dead and rushes to the hospital where he meets with the good/evil Dr. Fell had a confession –Elena did not have a concussion and was dying of a cerebral hemorrhage -- BUT she gave Elena vampire blood. Next shot, Elena is dead in the morgue. She wakes up and takes a deep breath. CUE THE VD logo!
So breathe a sigh of relief, the summer is here and time to catch your breath as we wait with bated breath for next season's TVD. Until that time, put your comments below on this season and do what Anna Nalick says, Just Breathe.
