Summers in Iowa
I'm not sure if I've mentioned that once or twice a year we visit family in Iowa. My husband grew up in a small town in the eastern part of the state. We met when we were both reporters at a TV station in the Quad Cities. The older I get, the more I appreciate my visits. My kids love playing with cousins and they have room to roam on Grandma and Grandpa's yard (about an acre), people leave their keys in their cars overnight(!!!), neighbors pop in and visit anytime and there's a sense of tight community. This summer we had fresh corn, straberries and melon on our lunch and dinner table everyday. Don't get me wrong, I'm a California girl through and through, but it does feel like a second home.
