Puppy explosion!!  It's cuteness to the 17th power!!!  An organic farm in Fairfield is getting all sorts of attention after one of its animal inhabitants gave birth to a record-setting litter of puppies!!   The 17 Maremma sheepdog puppies are almost two months old and only getting cuter!!  This may be the largest litter in California's history and it's likely the biggest litter for its breed in the world! We featured the story earlier this year when the puppies were born, now we'll see how life on the farm is treating this rowdy bunch!

After years of struggling with her own health and weight issues, and feeling frustrated with the response she received from the medical community, Sarrah became her own patient advocate and student of holistic nutrition and prevention.

We think of Cinnamon as a sweet treat, but it is also a great addition to healthy dishes. Here are a few tasty ways to sprinkle more cinnamon into your life:
1. Coffee
Add cinnamon to your morning cup of joe or to the grounds before brewing to add flavor to the whole pot.
2. Yogurt
Look for plain full-fat greek yogurt (Yes, full fat!) Plain yogurt has no sugar, so you can better manage the sugar content and sweetness by adding your own healthy toppings. Add 1 tspn cinnamon, fold in 1⁄4 cup granola, and/or cut up your own strawberries, blueberries or bananas.
3. Smoothies
The protein shake and smoothies craze is here to stay. I think largely because they are quick and easy and appeal to people's busy hectic lifestyle. My favorite smoothie for days where I need to get out the door quickly below. I love starting my day with cinnamon, and this is the perfect way to incorporate into your breakfast. It's also great post-workout. Good blend of carbs, protein and fat to refuel your body.
Ingredients
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I like Plant Fusion, a dairy free protein powder from Whole Foods Market or Amazon)
1 small banana
1 cup washed spinach
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon ground flax seed
8 oz almond milk (or other dairy-free milk of your choice) 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
Blend all ingredients in Vitammix or Nutribullet for 30 seconds. Top with teaspoon of cinnamon.

4. Chia Pudding
Chia pudding is a healthy breakfast option or really an anytime snack. It pairs great with cinnamon and is a tasty way to work these super foods into your diet. Chia seeds pack an impressive 11 grams of fiber in just two tablespoons, add cinnamon, making it a healthy option for people looking to lose weight.
Ingredients:
2.5 cups unsweetened almond milk 1/2 cup chia seeds
2 tablespoons of organic honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
SUGGESTED TOPPINGS: Chopped Walnuts or Almonds Granola
Fresh fruit
Coconut flakes
Nuts and seeds
Banana Soft Serve
Directions:
1 Whisk the almond milk, chia seeds, and sweetener together in a large bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes and then whisk again (this just helps prevent clumping).
2 Cover and chill in the fridge for 2.5-3 hours, or overnight. It helps to stir the mixture every so often during this time but don't worry if you can't.
3 Stir well before serving. Portion into bowl(s) and add your desired toppings. Leftovers will keep in an air-tight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.

5. Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Protein Bars
Protein bars can be full of fillers, artificial ingredients you can't pronounce and sugar. Here is my recipe for a healthy, natural ingredient protein bar. Perfect for breakfast or post workout.

Ingredients:
1 1⁄2 cups gluten free rolled oats
2 scoops chocolate protein powder 1/3 cup ground flax seed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1⁄2 cup peanut butter
1⁄2 cup applesauce
1⁄4 cup honey
1 small banana

Directions:
Line 8x8 baking sheet with wax paper
Combine the oats, protein powder, flax seed and cinnamon. Stir together in large mixing bowl Add peanut butter, honey and applesauce to dry mixture until combined
Put "dough" in pan spreading evenly throughout and molding into pan with hand
Put in freezer for 1 hour to set
Turn pan upside down on cutting surface and peel back parchment paper.
Cut into 16 small squares
Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness and integrity.
