Window Shot Out Of Controversial New Condom Store In Plano

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Random gunfire or retaliation?

That's a question being asked in Plano after bullets flew through a controversial business early Tuesday morning.

Someone fired multiple bullets into the Condom Sense store on Parker and Independence in Plano. "It was just really frightening to know something like this could happen," says Raven Campbell, store employee.

Campbell and other employees spent the morning cleaning up thousands of dollars in damage. They believe whoever was behind the attack is also involved in the protests against the store.

It opened last month in a neighborhood where some residents argued it doesn't belong.  "We never thought about how much some people have a lot of hate," says Mike Edwards, store owner.

Edwards says he's received threatening emails since the store opened a month ago.  "They want to do something about it and this is what they are doing about it," says Edwards.

Its believed as many as eight bullets were fired.

Plano Police sent a team of investigators to the crime scene.

Officers are concerned that anger over the sexual nature of the business may have escalated to violence.  "That's clearly something we're concered about," says David Tilley with the Plano Police Department, "This is very disturbing, this is not something we dont see."

Its not something employees want to see again.  "Some bullets went all the way to the back of the store and it could have hit one of those employees," says Edwards.

The store's owner plans to meet with police about security.

Investigators are examining that security camera video and believe, once they enhance it, will help develop some leads.
