White Claims Governor Appointees Help Politically Connected Firms
AUSTIN (NEWSRADIO 1080 KRLD) - The latest fight in the Governor's race deals with who is making investment decisions at the Teacher's Retirement System.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White accuses some of Governor Perry's appointees of steering some investments to firms with political connections.
He says these same appointees are heavy contributors to the Governor's campaign, which he says isn't illegal but should be. "A few years ago with these kind of things started coming out in other states, states adopted statues to make that illegal. I think we ought to do so, to have some limits, to have a statute in Texas."
Governor Perry says all of this has already been investigated and there's nothing to it.
