Weatherford Police Car Vandalized On Christmas Eve
WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Weatherford Police are looking for someone who vandalized a car on Christmas Eve, a police car.
The cruiser had been taken to a repair shop in the 1000 block of Fort Worth Highway for repairs, and had been parked in front of the business.
Police got the call about the vandalism to their vehicle around 7:45 Monday, and when they arrived found their car covered in orange paint.
"It looks like eye lashes over the head lights. I don't know if they were trying to be artistic or thought they were being funny," said Weatherford Police Sgt. Wendy Field. "It puts us down one vehicle at the police department and it's costing taxpayers money to have it fixed."
Weatherford Police say animal feces and lotion had also been poured over the car. One of the tires had been punctured as well.
The vandal also broke out a tail light.
Police say their car was the only one vandalized, and that the damage could cost thousands of dollars to repair.
"We are in the process of obtaining video footage from surrounding businesses to help in identifying the suspects," Captain Greg Lance said in a press release. "In the meantime, we hope that someone who knows about this crime will come forward with that information."
Weatherford Police are offering up to a $1,000 reward in the case. They ask people to call them at (817) 598-4300 or Parker County Crime Stoppers at (817) 599-5555.
The charges facing the suspect could vary depending on the cost of damage to the car.
