Tragic Baby Photo Prompts Search For Loved Ones

GAINESVILLE (CBS 11 NEWS) - Family photos and some personal mementos found on the ground prompt a mission to find their owner.

The photos are definitely not new, so the children seen in them are likely well into adulthood now. To someone out there, the photos are cherished memories, some perhaps fading, and that's what's driving Paul Longoria to find the owners.

"I kind of figured it's an older picture, and it's not something that in this age is digital, so it's not something that can be replaced," Longoria said.

Longoria found the photos and documents two weeks ago in a ziploc bag by a pump at a Flower Mound gas station.

Most people go in and out of gas stations quickly. Employees say so far no one has come by asking about the photos, which could mean the owners don't know where to look for them, if they even realize they're missing.

The photo that really got to Longoria shows a small casket with a baby boy, who according to an obituary only lived one day.

"And I know it's something, some memory that some mother and father or grandfather and grandmother have had and probably something that's all they have of. For one day, for a child to be one day, that's probably all they have," Longoria said.

Adam Charles Nelson may have only lived one day, but the people who loved him took his photo for his memory to last forever, and Longoria hopes he can save that wish.

"That's what the photos represent is just keeping a memory," Longoria said.

We've contacted the mortuary and cemetery that handled the burial for the baby nearly 32 years ago, but so far we have not been able to locate any relatives. If you recognize the people in the photos let us know.
