The Nashers' Touch Evident From Downtown To North Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The next time you're shopping at Dallas' North Park Center, notice the fountains and artwork.

Raymond and Patsy Nasher put it there.

The Dallas-based philanthropists believed that art is for everyone and amassed a personal collection that is considered one of the finest modern contemporary sculpture collections in the world.

Built in 2003 and located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, the Nasher Sculpture Center houses more than 300 masterpieces from world famous artists such as Matisse, Picasso and Rodin.

Raymond Nasher considered the building itself to be part of the collection. Its roof is designed for ideal natural lighting to flow through.

The building is enclosed by glass facades that allow the galleries to visually extend into the garden, providing unobstructed, continuous views from the street, through the building and across the length of the garden.

The 10,000-square-foot indoor gallery, 62,000-square-foot outdoor gardens, and interactive exhibits in each attract art lovers, children, and business people alike. Free wi-fi makes it an efficient escape in the middle of the day.

And with chef-to-the-stars Wolfgang Puck's on-site cafe, the Nasher is a popular place for weddings and private parties. It also hosts live outdoor concerts, speakers, and special events, including the free "Midnight at the Nasher" on the third Friday of every month through October.
