Sheriff's Arrest Woman Suspected Of Christmas Decoration Thefts

ALEDO (CBSDFW.COM) Parker County Sheriff's deputies were on the lookout for the woman who swiped Christmas decorations from several North Texas homes. Wednesday, after investigators made a positive identification, suspect Dana Brock was arrested.

Parker County officials had made public surveillance video that showed a woman walking up a sidewalk in Aledo and towards the front door of the Starnes family. She goes straight for the holiday wreath and then walks off.

But the theft didn't end there, the woman can also clearly be seen unplugging an extension cord and making off with strands of Christmas lights.

Ashley Starnes said she and her husband Jon were surprised to find the woman, now being dubbed the "Grinch", on their home security system. "I think it's scary that a grown woman would feel the need to do that," she told CBS 11 News. "That she would walk up to the front door and take something. It scared me for my kids safety."

Sheriff's Office officials said they received several tips after the video was released and that when they contacted Brock she "implicated herself" and was arrested at her Aledo home. The 43-year-old was booked into the Parker County Jail.

The arrest was made without incident but Sheriff Larry Fowler said the ending could have been far more severe for Brock. "Going onto someone property at 3 a.m. could have serious consequences and the outcome could be deadly."

Sheriff's investigators also recovered several of the stolen Christmas decorations and other stolen property not related to the holiday thefts.

In just the last two weeks Parker County officials had reports of outdoor decorations stolen from at least five homes in the Aledo area.
