Reward Increased In Case Of Impaled Cats
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The SPCA of Texas is offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who impaled two cats on a fence in June.
The cats were discovered just before 3 a.m. on June 27 outside of a Dallas apartment complex in the 2900 block of Remond Drive near Interstate 30 and Westmoreland Road.
The cats were found impaled by their hind legs on the 6-foot metal fence surrounding the complex.
Dallas Fire-Rescue removed the top portion of the fence to free the animals. One cat ran off before police could corral it. Dallas Animal Services had to euthanize the other cat because of its injuries, police said.
"There is a well-documented link between animal cruelty and human violence," said SPCA of Texas President James Bias. "Helping the Dallas Police Department bring these individuals to justice will help stop the cycle of abuse."
The suspect is believes to be a Latin male between the ages of 25 to 35. He was last seen leaving the scene in a white, four-door Honda Accord.
