FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Over the past week, 80 puppies have been dumped in Denton County, and the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is offering a reward for information about whoever is doing it.

At about 1 a.m. on October 3, 40 Cavalier King spaniel dogs were found on a rural road in Denton. Two nights earlier, 40 Maltese dogs were dumped in the area. The Denton County Sheriff's Department is investigating.

HSNT believes the animals were abandoned by a local puppy mill, and is offering a $500 reward for information leading to a conviction of whoever dumped them.

The animals are being held at HSNT's Fort Worth location at 1840 E. Lancaster Ave. Those that are healthy will be adopted out starting on Sunday, October 7. For more information about the puppies, call HSNT at 817-332-4768.
