'Resort' At DFW Airport Caters To Humans & Animals

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A business is opening at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that offers North Texans the opportunity to eliminate two of the most stressful things about traveling -- boarding pets and finding a place to park.

The "Paradise 4 Paws Pet Resort", the only pet hotel located on DFW Airport property, will operate seven days a week, 24-hours-a day.

Paradise owner Saq Nadeem said the operation schedule is meant to accommodate travelers. "So no matter what time of day or night… we work around your schedule."

Nadeem calls the 25,000+ square-foot facility 'paradise' and a resort for a reason. Dogs and cats are kept in 'suites', not cages, and some of the rooms are equipped with web cams.

"A lot of the times a lot of the pet parents wonder, 'Hey, what does my dog do all day long?' Well, guess what, now you can log in and watch your dog play, or relax, or whatever your dog is doing," Nadeem said.

There are different play areas for different size dogs and often the pets are also broken up into groups according to age, or activity level.

But the customized accommodations aren't just for the dogs. Nadeem said, "The cats have an aquarium in their adventure jungle. They have custom perches that they can sit on. They have windows to look out."

For the full animal resort experience your pet may take advantage of the spa and grooming area, or perhaps indulge in some massage therapy.

But the perks aren't just for animals… remember the parking?

Travelers pack for their trip and pack up their dog or cat. Then, "Drop your pets off, park your car with us and then we take you to the airport. And once you land, we come pick you up."

Paradise co-owner, Johanna Newcomb, said the resort allows pet owners to bring toys, blanket and things of comfort for their pet.

"We try to make it so when you drop your pet off you wont feel guilty about leaving," she said.

Like anything, to travel without that guilt will cost you. Prices at Paradise range from $49 a night for dogs and $27 a night for cats. Vehicle parking and airport shuttle service is an additional $10 a day.

The Paradise 4 Paws Pet Resort is located near the north entrance of DFW Airport, just off Freeport.
