Protesters Demand Charges One Year After McKinney Pool Party

McKINNEY (CBSDFW) - It's the North Texas pool party that got a police officer fired and even got the attention of the President.

One year ago, a video of an unarmed black teenage girl in a bikini taken down by a white police officer set off a wave of protests in McKinney.

Dajerria Becton held a news conference Monday outside the McKinney Police Department one year to the day that the disturbing video was recorded.

The teenager was flanked by her attorney who is wondering why authorities have not charged the now fired officer Eric Casebolt with a crime.

While other teenagers were seen on the video being berated by the officer, it's what happened to Becton that resonated in the black community.

The high school sophomore says she still faces harassment despite a desire to move on.

"People still talk about it people still do rude things but I'm doing fine," says Becton.

Becton's attorney says a lawsuit could be filed depending on what happens with the criminal investigation.

It was completed by the Texas Rangers in January but the DA's office says it could not get on the grand jury's schedule until later this month.
