DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A man who barricaded himself inside a room on the 12th floor of the Omni Hotel is now in police custody.  The situation was resolved without incident.

Dallas police say around 1:00 p.m. a friend of the man called saying he was concerned his friend might hurt himself and his friend had a gun.

The SWAT team came out and Dallas police cleared the 12th floor of the Omni Hotel.

Police say it didn't take very long for the man to give himself up to police.  He is in custody for evaluation and it's unclear if any charges will be filed.

Hotel guests knew little or nothing about what was going on.

"Nobody inside told us. I had no idea. There was one cop hanging out but he wasn't telling anyone anything so, kind of creepy," says John Valle, who was staying at the Omni.

Guests at the hotel's rooftop swimming pool could even be seen looking down on the SWAT vehicles during the incident.

Nearly 20 Dallas police vehicles were parked on the west side of the hotel and some streets were closed off but guests were still able to come and go during the ordeal.  They just couldn't go on the 12th floor.
