Man Killed In Southlake Town Square Shooting
SOUTHLAKE (CBSDFW.COM) - The quiet North Texas city of Southlake was rocked by a violent murder on Wednesday evening. It was the first killing there in more than a decade, and investigators do not believe that it was a random attack.
The incident happened just before 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night in the city's popular Southlake Town Square.
According to police, a couple was sitting inside a red Range Rover when a white SUV pulled up from behind. A gunman got out and fired at least five shots, killing the 43-year-old man who was sitting in the passenger's seat. His wife was in the driver's seat, but was not injured. The suspect got back into the white SUV with another suspect and fled from the scene.
Kim Leach with the Southlake Police Department said that the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine. The victim has only been identified as a 43-year-old Hispanic male. Police said that he has been living in Southlake for about a year.
"The information we have and the footage we've been able to view through our camera systems indicate that this was an organized, orchestrated effort to take a man's life," said Southlake Police Chief Steve Mylett to KRLD. "I don't believe that this was a random shooting. I think that the person that was the victim was the intended target."

According to Chief Mylett, police are consulting with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security. Other local police departments in Grapevine, Keller, and Colleyville are also assisting with the investigation.
"When something like this happens in one of our communities, every agency pulls their resources together and we approach this as a team," said Mylett. "This is something that does not happen in our city. Our residents need to know that this is a very deliberate incident where there is not someone out in our community randomly selecting people as a target."
Authorities have not released a description of the masked gunman or the accomplice, other than to say that they left the Southlake Town Center in a white SUV. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Southlake Police Department.
