NRH Police Standoff With Domestic Violence Suspect Ends

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBSDFW.COM) - After being engaged since before 5:30 a.m. on Friday, the North Richland Hills police standoff with a domestic violence suspect has ended peacefully.

The situation, at a home near the intersection of Clear Springs Lane and Shadywood Drive, shut down streets and had neighbors on edge for hours.

The suspect, Robert Winsett, 49, surrendered a little after 11:30 a.m after he had allegedly assaulted and injured two women.

Winsett is charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and on count of assault of a family member with bodily injury.

Negotiators were able to convince Winsett to release a 5-year-old girl from the home after several hours. SWAT officers went in to bring her to safety. However, Winsett remained barricaded at the residence. He was the only person left inside.

The child was since been reunited with her mother, who was still being treated for her injuries.

Police had blocked off Davis Boulevard between Shadywood Drive and North Tarrant Parkway asked people to stay away from the area, but the street has since been reopened. No neighborhood homes were evacuated.
