THE COLONY(CBSDFW.COM) - Dragged alongside a car by a driver police were investigating for drunk driving, the The Colony police officer who nearly lost his life is sharing his story.

"I could have been very easily pulled under the car, " says Officer Carlos Henderson.

Henderson understandably says he can't bear to watch the dash-camera footage of him being dragged away.  He has a dislocated shoulder and road rash as a result.  He's just glad to be alive.

"I just remember looking over my shoulders thinking, 'please don't let there be another vehicle coming," says Henderson.

The man behind the wheel was 26-year-old Brian Osborne.  Police eventually caught up to Osborne and arrested him.  Henderson's wife, Kimberley was sleeping when she noticed she had 15 missed calls from police.

"It was very scary," said Kimberley Henderson.  "I thought I was losing my best friend."

But Carlos Henderson sits surrounded by his wife and kids, thankful his split second decision to intervene wasn't his last.

"If I had to do it all over again, I can't tell you I'd do anything different because it's still my job to protect the people in my city," says Henderson.

Henderson says he can't wait to get back to work but knows it's going to take weeks until he's better.
