Mansfield Teacher Dies Days After Indecency Allegations
MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) - Mansfield Independent School District administrators have confirmed that Cora Spencer Elementary School teacher Alan Butler died on September 21.
Grief counselors were on the campus of the Grand Prairie school Monday.
Butler was placed on administrative leave on September 18. The move was made after an indecency with a child allegation. Both the Mansfield ISD Police and Child Protective Services were investigating the claim.
A statement on the Mansfield ISD website said, in part -
"This is a tragic situation for the school community. Our condolences go out to everyone involved."
The cause of Alan Butler's death hasn't been released. CBS 11 News doesn't know the details of the indecency with a child investigation, and to our knowledge do not believe Butler had been arrested.
