McKINNEY (CBS11) - An effort to make McKinney more bike friendly is making enemies of some homeowners.
It's because of some controversial new street signs promoting bike routes throughout the city.
McKinney homeowners got their first look at 462 Bicycle Boulevard signs placed in neighborhoods around town.
It's part of a safety plan to encourage bicyclists to get off main roads and use neighborhood streets.
But homeowners have complained that the signs are too large and too tall and they worry the signs will drive down property values.
"It's very ugly, very out of character, very large very in-your-face that could've been done much better," said McKinney homeowner, Kim Henry.
The city says the signs have to be large to conform with street sign regulations and are higher to avoid blocking views.
