Grapevine Police Seek Serial Groper Who Broke Woman's Collarbone
GRAPEVINE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM ) - Newly-released surveillance video at a Grapevine apartment complex shows a man quickly grabbing a woman and dragging her into a dark breezeway.
It's the fifth such attack since April at three complexes between the 2800 and 3000 blocks of Mustang Drive.
All of the victims were able to fight off the suspect, but in one case, a woman's collarbone was broken in her struggle to escape.
On Wednesday afternoon, police released the sketch of the suspect with the hope of getting him off the street before he strikes again and becomes more violent.
Public Information Officer at Grapevine PD, Amanda McNew said, "There's no identifying marks on him from the descriptions we had from victims and that's why I think the sketch will be very important in this case."
Leslie Lubeck, who lives in the Encore on Mustang apartments, where some of the attacks have taken place said, "It is a little scary, it is a little terrifying."
Chayanne Jones, who also lives in that same complex said "I think it's very scary."
Women who live in the apartment complexes were stunned when they heard about Tuesday's attack at the Courtyards at Mustang apartments.
Investigators are working at least five separate cases where the man exposed himself or physically grabbed women. The crimes happened from April 8, 2019 and July 9, 2019, primarily at complexes between the 2800 and 3000 blocks of Mustang Drive.
For now, Jones said she's being extra vigilant. "Very concerned, cause it's just me and my mom who live with him so we don't have anyone to protect us really."
The man is described as Hispanic, in his early twenties, with short, curly black hair, a thin build, and between 5'3" and 5'8". Grapevine Police are working with a sketch artist and one victim to create a sketch of the suspect. The sketch will be made public once it is complete.
Grapevine police officers are actively patrolling the neighborhood and urge women to keep close watch of their surroundings, travel in pairs when possible, and call 911 immediately if they see anything suspicious.
