DALLAS (CBSDFW) - The Granada Theatre in Dallas decided yesterday to open its doors early for a free Rangers watch party for Friday's Game 2 of the ALDS.

Zack Neel was one of about 15 people who was at the free watch party around 12:30 pm.

"I don't think anyone in Dallas expected to be watching Rangers playoff baseball at the beginning of the season," Neel said.

Neel is still emotionally invested in the team. But he thinks a lot of fair weather fans may be slow to realize this underdog team has bounced back from a bad early season.

"Some people might have stopped watching in the season and might not realize we took first place," he said.

Mary Shaheed was one of the diehards there too. She sees her friends slowly returning to cheer for the team that broke their hearts in two World Series.

"I think there are some people who are still a little bit hesitant and a little bit too heartbroken to fully engage," she said. "But I think the way we played yesterday is a good sign.

If the team failed to inspire people to play hooky from work for the early afternoon game, it hasn't failed to draw people to Globe Life Park in Arlington. As of Friday afternoon, only a handful of nosebleed seats remained for Sunday's game and the Rangers were preparing to release standing room tickets for Monday's nearly sold out game.
