Eleventh Case Of Imported Chikungunya Virus Confirmed In Dallas Co.

DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) -  The Dallas County Health Department is reporting an 11th case of Chikungunya virus in the county.

The patient was infected with the virus during a recent trip to Puerto Rico.

Chikungunya is transmitted to people by mosquitoes. The virus causes high fever and severe joint pain, and can cause headache, muscle pain and rash.

Most people who get infected survive, but there is no vaccine and no specific medicine to treat the virus.
