DPS Trooper's SUV Hit From Behind By 18-Wheeler In Forney

FORNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - At least one DPS trooper was injured in a crash on Highway 80 East at the Forney city limits around 4:10 Thursday afternoon.
The trooper was pulling over an 18-wheeler near Lawson Road in slow traffic when another 18-wheeler struck the trooper's SUV from behind.
The DPS said the driver of the big rig did not see the slowing traffic and struck the highway patrol SUV, causing it to hit the semi in front of it.
The trooper was extricated from the SUV and airlifted to Baylor Medical Center but is expected to be okay, according to DPS.
Highway 80 eastbound was shut down, but reopened around 5:15 p.m.
