DALLAS (CBS11 SPORTS) - The Dallas Independent School District is looking to add more excitement to the electric atmosphere surrounding National Signing Day.

DISD wants to honor both current and former student athlete at the annual signing day ceremony.

The school district is reaching out to former student athletes, who participated in the signing day ceremony in years past, to take part in this year's event.

The hope is to start a tradition of honoring the past, while helping the current student athletes prepare for the future.

According to DISD Assistant Athletic Director Annette Scogin, "It's a win-win situation for both DISD alumni, and current student-athletes. Whether they went on to play pro sports, or they're a successful business person, or a stay at home mom that's raising a great family, we want them to see the role models of what you can become."

"And the pride, and expectations that come with signing a college scholarship," adds Scogin.

DISD will also honor NFL Hall of Fame Wide Receiver, and Woodrow Wilson HS Alumni, Tim Brown at this years event. Tim Brown has taped a special video welcome to start the ceremony.

DISD will host their signing day event on Wednesday, February 3rd at Ellis Davis Field House.
