Denton PD Arrest 4 Suspected In Major Shoplifting Ring

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Denton Police arrested three women and one man in Dallas Sunday who are believed to be part of a major shoplifting ring throughout the region.

Denton Police officers served search warrants at a home in the 4100 block of Abilene Street and another in the 4100 block of Hammerly Drive in West Dallas.

Rigoberto Moncivaiz, 30, Alicia Moncivaiz, 52 and Hilda Guardiola-Espinosa, 28, were arrested at the home on Abilene. Officers arrested Elia Guerra, 38, at the home on Hammerly.

Denton Police spokesman Ryan Grelle described the four suspects as the "fences" of the alleged shoplifting operation. They tell the shoplifters the items they want and pay them for their efforts later.

The items are then sold at Trader's Village and area flea markets.

Grelle said investigators found a minimum of $300,000 worth of stolen property in one of the homes. Items were recovered from Dollar General, Tom Thumb, The Gap, Old Navy and Children's Place.

Many of the targeted stores were in Denton, Grelle said, giving the department jurisdiction. Dallas Police did assist in the arrests. All suspects were home when the search warrants were served, he added.

The four were taken to the Denton County Jail for processing.
