THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Pace! Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride. Great car! It looks super new. Have you had it long? Do you use it every day?

A: Let's see, I travel 28 miles to work every day and 28 miles back. Its main use other than getting me to work is storage. It can store a lot. When I've had to use film equipment in here--because I have a film degree--it can store just a whole lot of stuff. That's really, really useful. I only have to fill up once every two weeks. So that's really not that bad.

Q: That's fantastic. I knew the Subaru Legacy had great storage, but I didn't know it had great gas milage. Was your buying experience positive?

A: It's a lease. The all wheel drive is nice. It does so well on just about any terrain. When I first test drove this car, it was raining in about four inches of rain. It didn't slip or slide once. It was just really, really good. That's what pretty much sold it.

Q: Excellent. When you're cruising around town, making movies and whatnot, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

A: Techno, actually. I like to listen to techno and a lot of Bollywood.

Q: Wow, what a combo. Do you ever rock out and sing along?

A: I'm not really the sing along type of person. But I do listen to show tunes on there occasionally. Another thing I will say, I got in a massive bit of a fender bender when a FedEx truck rear ended me. The car sustained almost no damage what so ever. When I got it back, I found out that the movie soundtrack channel had been removed! Unfortunately that was a lot of my music right there.

Q: Bummer about the music loss. At least you were OK. So what are you doing here today at the Angelika?

A: I was considering going to see a movie. I saw Drive there last week, so I might go see Machine Gun Preacher tonight or something. It's probably the nicest theater in Dallas. Most of the films I watch are independent. Most of my influences are independent directors.

Q: Excellent. And is there anything else you'd like to tell us?

A: It certainly seems to set the mood when you're driving and you're playing techno.
