Dallas Firefighters Battle Blaze At Shopping Center Near White Rock Lake
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas firefighters are battling a fire at a strip shopping center near White Rock Lake.
The call came in just before 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 2 in the 9000 block of Garland Road near Loop 12 Buckner Boulevard.
When firefighters arrived at the one-story commercial structure, they observed smoke and fire coming from the back of the Humble Pie location.
They made their way to the back of the building, where they located a fire behind, and extending into, the business. Using handlines, firefighters made their way inside and extinguished the flames within the hour.
There were two people inside the business when the fire began.
According to investigators, one of them discovered the fire behind the business and called 911 before it somehow made its way inside; leaving behind severe damage to part of the kitchen and heavy smoke damage to the remainder of the business, to include the dining/retail area.
In addition to the location of origin, a neighboring business also suffered minor exterior damage from the fire; but nothing that should cause them to have to close their doors to business.
Heavy black smoke could be seen from miles away.
