Couple Married 50 Years Achieve Life Goals As Team

CORINTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Married 50 years, Don and Donna Metivier are having the time of their lives in retirement working as a team.

Teamwork is somewhat of their life mantra, and considering their success – it's working.

The couple from Corinth recently achieved their goal of cycling in every U.S. state.

"The last state was Illinois. It was June of this year," said Don. "Satisfying a goal was very rewarding and that in itself is a motivation!"

They never had a plan in place, biking was something the couple started doing for fun back in 1989.

Twenty-six years later they tell CBS11 they have biked approximately 200,000 miles (approximately because they didn't officially start logging miles until 2005).

With this goal behind them they will continue ride for fun and work toward accomplishing other goals including their work on building an airplane,

"It is a single wing all aluminum aircraft that flies about 190 miles per hour, " said Don.

He also said they're just the kind of people who set goals and do everything they can to achieve them.

Their 'can do' attitudes and positive outlooks on life, make makes Don and Donna Metivier Texans with Character.
