WACO(CBSDFW.COM) - The threat of retaliation still lingers over Waco Monday night after Sunday's gun battle outside a Twin Peaks Restaurant.

Late Monday night, Waco police still had the crime scene sealed off and most of the area is heavily guarded.  Some folks in this city are not just preparing for biker gang retaliation.  They're expecting it.

George's restaurant has been a Waco institution for 80 years.  But for the first time, an off duty police officer has been hired as security.  Customers don't seem to mind and applaud the police actions.

"It was our understanding at one point that the leadership of the bike groups had basically put a green light out for uniformed officers in the area," said Waco resident Mike Curry.

Waco Police have officers guarding officers with armed checkpoints around the Twin Peaks restaurant where nine bikers were killed on Sunday and 18 were wounded.

CBS 11 News has learned that inside the crime scene, detectives recovered more than 50 guns as well as knives, brass knuckles, and a chain with a lock on the end that police say was used to beat a victim.

The 170 arrested have been booked into the McLennan County Jail charged with engaging in organized crime that resulted in capital murder.

Police began towing away 100 motorcycles from the parking lot of the restaurant where 18 officers were standing outside of Sunday when things turned violent.

"Those officers quickly gained control of a very violent scene and took numerous biker individuals into temporary custody," says Waco Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton.

Bond is set at $1,000,000 for each of the 170.

Police hoped to finish up there work here by sundown but now appear to be out here through the night.
