Whether it's the clouds, the colors or the scenery, watching a beautiful sunset is always a magical experience. You don't have to be in an exotic place to enjoy a good sunset when the views from these DFW spots will leave you breathless.

There's not a better place to watch the sun dip below the horizon than at the top of Dallas' iconic Reunion Tower. You can dine at Wolfgang Puck's Five Sixty restaurant or take a ride up to the newly opened GeO-Deck for $16 and play with the toys that have been installed inside. Powerful telescopes, high-definition zoom cameras and interactive displays are all there to enhance the experience, but the bird's eye view of the skyline is phenomenal on its own.

If  have never watched the sun go down over Lake Ray Hubbard, then you have really missed out on a spectacular scene. You can view it from one of Harbor Rockwall's eateries or you can soak up the sunset with Scott Self on an enchanting 90-minute sailing adventure aboard his catamaran, trimaran or air-conditioned power boat. Right smack in the middle of Plano sits this 200-acre jewel that looks more like it belongs in the Texas Hill Country than amidst the concrete jungles of suburbia. With its clear running streams, abundant wildlife and excellent trails for hiking and biking, visitors to the preserve can reconnect to the natural world without having to venture far from home. Sunset Bay is beautiful at dusk, especially with a gorgeous sunset. The area is also one of the best birding spots in the metroplex, attracting a variety of birds and waterfowl that flock to the bay during the early evening. When the sun descends on the horizon, the lake takes on an eerie red glow as the lights of downtown come to life in the distance. Enjoy it from the shore or from the middle of the lake where the view is best—then sit back and let nature do the rest.

This architectural gem in the middle of downtown Fort Worth features concrete, stone and three different water installations cascading down terraces almost 100 feet below street level. Sunset is an ethereal time of day at the gardens when the fountain heads in the aerating pool come to life with a changing display of colors. The dramatic combination of the water, lights and the sun setting over the Fort Worth cityscape creates a perfect Kodak moment.
