The Dallas Opera raised $1.25 million in a five-day campaign drive last July, led by a $500,000 contribution from Crow Holdings. The Opera's newly formed Cultural Renaissance Endowment Fund received contributions from The Hamon Charitable Foundation, Mrs. Eugene McDermott, Phyllis and Thomas McCasland and The Perot Foundation. Under the direction of CEO Keith Cerny, The Dallas Opera's strategic plan is healthy and continues to earn the confidence of the community. The organization offers various tiers of contribution opportunities that will be reciprocated with certain benefits. These include different levels of involvement within the arts and insider information about the DFW arts scene. Continued success still depends on healthy ticket sales, Annual Fund donations, corporate support and other grants and gifts.

The Amon G. Carter Foundation asset range is $50 million or larger. In 2010, their community grants totaled $23,401,936. Casa Manana, Circle Theatre, Fort Worth Opera Association, Jubilee Players, Performing Arts Fort Worth, Texas Ballet Theater, Van Cliburn Foundation and the Amon Carter Museum are just some of the arts programs that benefit from this great foundation. The majority of all money raised goes toward DFW arts, however this organization contributes to other great causes as well. Fortunate recipients include those needing assistance in health and medical services, youth and elderly programs and civic and community endeavors throughout the area.

Another top local charity supporting the arts is The 500, Inc. Its mission has expanded to support Dallas' theatrical, musical and visual arts. To date, The 500, Inc. has donated over $12 million and extensive volunteer hours to Dallas and Garland arts communities. Some of the 2011 beneficiaries are Dallas Wind Symphony, the award-winning Theater Three, Shakespeare Dallas, the innovative Kitchen Dog Theatre, WaterTower Theatre and Garland Summer Musicals.

TACA is a leading champion for the performing arts of North Texas. They strive to raise community participation in and awareness of the arts, serving as one of the most reliable sources for support in the DFW area. TACA distributed a fifth consecutive, $1 million in grants to 41 North Texas performing arts groups. The TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund will provide $100,000 annually for three years. Donna Wilhelm recently shared, "When we move the arts forward, we move Dallas forward, too."
