PLANO(CBSDFW.COM) - Inside a Plano business called, Amazeballz, you'll find flavors like "orange creamsicle" and "Italian cream."  But alongside the cake balls is a different kind of dessert.

Bacon roses.

"These are my bacon roses. It's a product I've developed over the last four years," says baker and bacon rose creator, Meredith Browning.

She says the start-up started on Facebook.

"The whole development of this came about from my dad.  He's a diabetic," Browning says. "From showcasing it on Facebook, everybody kept contacting me and saying, hey we want some of these for our friends, our family."

While the he bacon is edible, the stem is not.  That's made of wood, painted with FDA-approved paint.

"We had to use a specific width bacon, we had to use a specific type of bacon and we had to develop a specific process," Browning explains.

The bacon rose bouquets arrive vacuum sealed and can last two weeks in there.  Once you open them, they need to be eaten or refrigerated within 24 hours.

Browning warns not to try to make them yourself.

"You could end up burning the entire bottom of your oven," she says.

You can find the bacon roses at Amazeballz in Plano, but Browning says most of her business comes from the web.
