When the Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts has its 4th Annual Spring Concert Of Muses this Sunday, you will see a small part of an amazing story unfold before your eyes.

When co-owner Eva Brandys came to the United States over twenty years ago, her homeland of Poland had just become free from communist rule. She auditioned for one of the many college opportunities and was accepted at Dallas Baptist University where she would earn her Bachelors in Piano Performance.

Eva would later receive a full scholarship to the SMU and earn two doctorates, one in Music Education and one in Piano Pedagogy.  Five years ago Eva opened the Park Cities School of Music where she has trained hundreds of students.

Eva has joined forces with another very talented Polish native, Ewa Korzeniowska, to open The Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts in Dallas.

"Our idea is to collaborate three arts and mix them together with the students that do art, with student who do music and with students who perform dance" said Ewa Korzeniowska.

"We want to create a program that prepares them to get into Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts or maybe to Juilliard" Eva Brandys added.

The 4th Annual Spring Concert Of Muses at The Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts is Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm.

JD Ryan is Around Town with this story of music, triumph and courage.
