ANNA (CBSDFW.COM) - An eighth-grade student from Anna was arrested on Thursday night, accused of making a threat to his school through social media. Police said that the 13-year-old student warned his friends to stay away from the campus, because he had "something big planned" for Anna Middle School.

The boy posted photographs of himself online. In those pictures, authorities said, he was holding, what appeared to be, an AK-47. Officers arrested the teen at his home at around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday night for making a terroristic threat. Police at the suspect's home found the airsoft gun that they believe was used in the photo.

Investigators said that the teen sent that photograph to four friends with a warning: "Don't come to school tomorrow, I have something big planned." The friends wrote back to ask if he was kidding, but one parent called the police.

Officials said that the teen admitted to sending the photo, but meant it as a joke. Regardless, he was taken into custody, and remains at the Collin County Juvenile Center while the investigation continues.

The Anna Police Department did order extra officers to the school as a precaution, but classes have remained in session as usual. At this point, police do not believe that there is a credible threat to the campus.
