Animal Services Believes Stray Dog Pair Responsible For Biting 7

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Plano Animal Services is looking for a pair of elusive criminals, but these have four legs. Workers are trying to find a pair of dogs that they say could possibly be responsible for biting up to seven people.

The pair of pooches, a blue heeler and a black mix-breed, have been on the run for months.

Plano officials say the dogs are elusive and apparently aren't staying in one place for very long.

Animal Services director Jamey Cantrell explained that the hunt has covered a lot of ground. "We have sightings of them that cover an area that's about 15 square miles, and so it's proven to be a little difficult to capture them."

Cantrell said at least one of the dogs - the blue heeler - has likely bitten up to seven people. The most recent dog attack involved a 12-year-old boy, who was bitten on the leg.

The search for the animals is being ramped up because officials are concerned for the well being of both man and beast.

"We want to get those dogs picked up, not only for public safety but also for the animals safety as well," Cantrell said. "We want them off the streets because there are bad things that can happen to them out there. We don't want anybody to get hurt."

People who spot the dogs needn't worry about what will happen to them if they're captured. Cantrell said if and when the dogs are caught veterinarians will make sure they're healthy and then professional will work to train them. He said if the dogs are responsive there's is a chance they could be put up for adoption.
