Woman, 56, fatally struck by train in Genesee County

A 56-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a train in Fenton, Michigan, on Friday night, according to police.

Officers responded to the incident on the railroad tracks near the Poplar Street crossing around 9:35 p.m. They found the woman, identified by police as Cynthia Susanne Prince of Linden, Michigan, and began to attempt lifesaving measures. She died at the scene despite the efforts, officials said.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Bemus at 810-629-5311.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Flint Township Police Department and Fenton Fire Department helped the Fenton Police Department at the scene. 

Fenton is around 19 miles south of Flint, Michigan.
