PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A man is dead and a woman is in custody after a stabbing incident in Pontiac late Thursday night.

Oakland County Sheriff investigators say the 24-year-old victim was seen coming out of an apartment on Fiddis Ave. after being stabbed in the neck and chest.

The 19-year-old suspect was arrested early Friday morning. She told police the man attacked her with a broom stick and during the fight she grabbed a knife to defend herself.

The woman fled the scene but was later found by police at a family member's home. The man was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his wounds.

A report will be sent to the prosecutor's office which will determine if any charges will be filed.
