Jarvi At The DSO

Detroit Symphony Orchestra Music Director Emeritus Neeme Järvi returns to lead a newly-adapted suite from Wagner's exhilarating "Die Meistersinger." Hélène Grimaud joins Järvi for Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1. Performances will happen at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 8 p.m. Saturday, March 31 and 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1. DSO Conducting Assistant Charles Greenwell will give a special pre-concert talk about the program in Orchestra Hall on Saturday, March 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15.

Shrine Circus

For you and the kids this weekend, the Detroit Shrine Circus returns to the Hazel Park Raceway Friday through Sunday, and April 6-8. This year's Circus will feature an all-new show, starring one of the nation's few tiger acts, Arabian horses, and a unique elephant revue, as well as a number of international acts and the favorite Shrine clowns. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

It's been 100 years since the Titanic collided with an iceberg, claiming more than 1500 lives -- and the fascination continues. To mark the anniversary, The Henry Ford in Dearborn is hosting "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" March 31 through September 30.

The 10,000 square foot exhibition features more than 300 artifacts. plus extensive room re-creations. You can get your photo taken near the full-scale replica of the Grand Staircase, as well as learn about passengers on board who had local ties to Michigan. Get tickets here.

Celebrate the Mudpuppy

The Belle Isle Nature Zoo is hosting an event to celebrate the mudpuppy from 1 p.m. to  4 p.m. Sunday, April 1. Mudpuppies are large salamanders native to the Detroit River. Brownish-gray with dark spots and a yellowish belly. (Eeek!)

Mudpuppypalooza will feature mask making, games and mudpuppy cookie decorating. Admission to the Belle Isle Nature Zoo and all activities are free.  For more information, call 248-541-5717 or visit www.detroitzoo.org.

Fantastic Fish Fry

Historic Sweetest Heart of Mary in Detroit has a doozy of a fish fry from 3-8 p.m. in the parish hall this Friday. WWJ's Ron Dewey says they soak the cod (starting at 9 in the morning) in a special beer batter. Historic Flea Market

Antique lovers and bargain hunters will love this: It's the 30th annual Historic Fort Wayne Flea Market on West Jefferson at the foot of Livernois. It happens 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. While you're there, take a guided tour of the Historic Fort Wayne complex  built in the 1800s. Secure parking is $5 per vehicle. Tours are $3 per person. Get more information here.
