Two arrested in Monroe after bicyclist struck in possible road rage incident, police say
MONROE, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - Two people have been arrested in the aftermath of a road rage incident in which a bicyclist was struck and injured in the city of Monroe.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the intersection of East Fifth and Navarre streets, according to a report from the Monroe Police Department.
The victim was a 21-year-old male, who was found on the ground in the middle of the road when Monroe Fire and Police crews arrived.
The vehicle involved had already left the scene, but the victim and witnesses provided a description.
"Further investigation revealed that the car purposely crashed into the bicycle, possibly in a road rage incident," the police report said. "Using camera technology, the police could identify the suspect vehicle and its registered owner."
The investigation led to police making arrests Saturday of a 19-year-old male, identified as the driver, and an 18-year-old female, identified as the passenger. Both are from the Monroe area.
"Charges of Felonious Assault are being pursued against both individuals," the report said
