Trump to speak to Detroit Economic Club, tour Ford plant during Michigan visit

President Trump is scheduled to stop in Southeast Michigan on Tuesday, speaking to the Detroit Economic Club and touring Ford's Rouge Center.

The Detroit Economic Club confirmed over the weekend that Mr. Trump will be speaking to members and their guests at MotorCity Casino's Sound Board Theater in Detroit. Details about the speech weren't immediately disclosed.

The club says Tuesday's event will mark the third time Mr. Trump has spoken to the group. He delivered a campaign address to members in October 2024, one month before winning Michigan in the presidential election. He also talked to the organization in August 2016.

Organizers of Tuesday's event said they've previously hosted former presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

On Monday, Ford Motor Company confirmed to CBS News Detroit that the president will also tour the Rouge Center in Dearborn, which assembles the F-Series.

In an emailed statement, the company said, "We are excited to welcome President Trump to Ford's historic Rouge Center — where Henry Ford perfected vertical integration and where thousands of American workers assemble America's best-selling truck for 49 years: F-Series. As the top U.S. automaker by domestic employment and production, we look forward to showcasing what has always set Ford apart: American workers putting the automobile within reach of every American."

Ford didn't provide any other details about the president's visit.

Mr. Trump last visited Michigan in April 2025 to celebrate his first 100 days of his second term. He spoke at Macomb Community College in Warren and visited Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
