Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't miss tailgating before the Detroit Lions home opener on Sunday because you were stuck in traffic.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-696:
In Macomb County, eastbound I-696 will be closed from Hoover to Groesbeck from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Westbound I-696 will be closed at Hoover from Noon Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday. During the closures, traffic will be diverted to the service drives. The full closure is needed for bridge demolition and beam repair.
In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at Mound Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for sign foundation work.
In Macomb County, the right lane of eastbound I-696 will be closed from Dequindre to Mound from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for sign foundation work.
I-94:
In Detroit/Harper Woods, eastbound I-94 will be closed from Gratiot to 8 Mile Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for resurfacing and bridge work. During the overnight full closures, all traffic will be routed to Gratiot Ave to 8 Mile Road back to I-94.
In Detroit/Harper Woods, eastbound I-94, from Harper to Lochmoor, and westbound I-94 from Outer Drive to Conner, will have the left two lanes closed starting at 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday for resurfacing and bridge work.
In Detroit, westbound I-94 will have the left two lanes closed from Conner to Gratiot from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday for resurfacing.
In Harper Woods, starting at 8 p.m. Friday and ending by 8 a.m. Saturday, northbound Moross and northbound Outer Drive over I-94 will be reduced to a single lane for bridge work.
In Detroit, the right lane of westbound I-94 will be closed at Trumbull from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday for sign foundation work. In addition, the ramp from southbound M-10 to westbound I-94 will be closed during the same time frame.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have the right lane closed from I-275 to Wayne Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday for drainage repair. During the same time frame, the ramp from northbound and southbound I-275 to eastbound I-94 will have a single lane closure.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have the two right lanes closed at Belleville Road from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
I-96:
In Wayne County, the right two lanes of westbound I-96 will be closed from Merriman to Newburgh roads from 8 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair.
In Wayne County, the right lane of westbound I-96 will be closed at Merriman Road, along with the entrance ramp from Merriman to westbound I-96, from 5 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
In Wayne County, the right lane of eastbound I-96 will be closed from Inkster to Beech Daly, along with the Inkster entrance ramp and the Beech Daly exit ramp, from 5 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-96 will have rolling two lane closures between I-94 and M-39 for detailed bridge inspections. Westbound lane closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., while eastbound lane closures will occur from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday.
I-75:
In Oakland County, the two left lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from 14 Mile to 13 Mile roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday for maintenance.
In Oakland County, the two right lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Square Lake to Squirrel roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday for maintenance.
In Detroit, northbound and southbound I-75 will have rolling two lane closures between Michigan Avenue and the I-75 (Fisher to Chrysler freeways) interchange from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday for detailed bridge inspections.
I-275:
In Oakland County, the ramp from southbound I-275 to eastbound M-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday for resurfacing.
M-5:
In Oakland County, the ramp from eastbound M-5 to eastbound I-696 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday for resurfacing.
In Oakland County, the ramps from westbound M-5 to eastbound I-696, and from westbound M-5 to northbound M-5, will be closed from 8 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.
M-10 (Lodge Freeway):
In Detroit, the ramp from southbound Lodge to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work. A detour will be posted.
M-53:
In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 will have a rolling two lane closure from 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, and 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday for maintenance.
M-59:
In Macomb County, westbound M-59 will have a two lane closure from Hayes to Van Dyke from 9 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.
M-102 (Eight Mile Road):
In Wayne County, westbound 8 Mile Road will have the left lane closed, in one mile segments, from Telegraph to Grand River from 7 a.m. today until 7 p.m. Sunday for drainage work.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, the Outer Drive entrance ramp to southbound M-39 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
In Wayne and Oakland counties, M-39 will remain closed between the Lodge Freeway and Grand River until October.
