Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello's Trust In New-Grip Slider Pays Off
This Blue Jays series showcased the most important part of the Tigers' foundation for next season. Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello -- who line up as the team's top three starters for 2011 -- all shackled the heavy-hitting Jays.
The trio combined to pitch 23 innings in the series and allowed four runs, all on bases-empty homers. Against the trio, the Blue Jays had the grand total of five at-bats with a runner in scoring position -- including none Sunday against Porcello.
