Three injured in apartment building fire in Farmington
Three people were sent to the hospital Thursday in the aftermath of an apartment fire in Farmington, Michigan, authorities said.
The fire was at the Farmington Plaza Apartments at the corner of Orchard Lake Road and Shiawassee Street.
Famington's Director of Public Safety, Bob Houhanisin, said fire crews responded to the scene in less than three minutes around 3:20 a.m. Thursday. Crews extinguished the fire within about 45 minutes.
Three residents were taken to an area hospital.
"It's pretty scary. We train for it quite regularly. We train in the dark. We train in these types of environments, and we train in search and rescue. That's our primary goal to make sure everyone is out," Houhanisin said.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
"We are getting into colder weather, and our message is if you need help with heating in your home, ask for assistance because we have resources that can help residents," Houhanisin said.
Farmington Hills Fire Department also assisted on the call.
