They exchanged uniforms and one last alley oop in the third quarter of their final game this season.

Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince always had that connection. Hamilton always knew where Prince was on the floor and he loved flipping those low line drive passes for Prince's signature left-handed dunk.

Everybody is writing that this is probably the end of an era. I will take it a step further and say it must be an end of an era. The Pistons need fresh blood, not more blasts from the past.
Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince – we thank you for all you've done. We thank you for the excitement, the 2004 NBA championship and the six straight Eastern Conference appearances.

Your time has come and gone in this city. The Pistons are close to being under new ownership and new leadership from the bench. Now they must build around young players and let go of the past.

Team President Joe Dumars says he wants Prince back. Why? Prince cannot help this new group and it is time for him to go fishing for his second championship ring. He can be a valuable piece for a contender. Hamilton can be the same.

That should be their main focus. It makes no sense for them to simply play basketball at this stage of their careers. They should play meaningful games again even in a limited role.
All good things must come to an end. People grow tired. They grow old and sometimes they just need a change of scenery. That time has come for Prince, Hamilton and Wallace.
And that time has come for the Pistons.
