Snyder Sticks With Fancier House Near Ann Arbor

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says he's staying in his home near Ann Arbor so his daughter doesn't have to change schools. He doesn't mention he'd have to give up his indoor pool, movie theater and wine cellar if he moved to Lansing.

The official governor's residence on the Grand River isn't shabby. It was extensively renovated in 2003 and 2004, with new bedrooms, a family room and kitchenette and improvements throughout.

Snyder's own 10,600-square-foot home is in a subdivision of million-dollar homes in Washtenaw County's Superior Township. The sprawling home doesn't have the wrought iron fence that protects the governor's residence, but state police are providing security.

For security reasons, neither Snyder's office nor state police will say what it costs to protect Snyder's home and the Lansing residence.
