Sheriff Says Mother Distracted At Time Of Fatal Collision
RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A western Michigan sheriff says a 24-year-old mother was distracted by two young children in the back seat when she went through a stop sign and her vehicle was struck by another vehicle, killing her 2-year-old daughter.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler said Sara Curtis did not see the stop sign Saturday because she was distracted by the two girls. Two-year-old Alayna Curtis died in the crash.
Curtis and another daughter were treated and released from a hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The collision occurred in Ravenna Township, about 18 miles east of Muskegon.
