Sara's Blog: Will A Dictator Crash The Oscars?

Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno, Ali G) actually has a legitimate reason to be at the Oscars. The comedian had a role in the movie "Hugo", which is up for Best Picture. Conceivably, SBC could have shown up in his black tie gear and sat quietly in the audience to support his director, Martin Scorsese. Another highly probable scenario is that Sasha Baron Cohen would wreak havoc on the red carpet dressed up as the character for his next movie (out in May) called "The Dictator".

Rumor has it that the Oscar suits got nervous that something entertaining and funny might happen, so they told Sacha they would revoke his tickets unless he promised not to show up in costume. Thankfully, Admiral General Aladeen isn't too upset with the snub and sent out a response video.

After the response video came out, the Academy released a statement that claimed no final decision has been made. For their sake, I hope the Oscar people take a chance and let the dictator chips fall where they may.
