Police: Man Killed On Telegraph Road Was Standing In Middle Of Street

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police in Monroe County say an Ohio man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while apparently standing in traffic.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday on Telegraph Road near Crabb Road in Bedford Township, about a half-mile from the Michigan-Ohio border.

According to police, a 31-year-old Toledo woman was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 southbound on Telegraph Road, in the right lane of travel, when she struck 43-year-old Michael Carver shortly after passing Crabb Road.

Police say Carver, also of Toledo, was standing in the middle of the lane with his back toward traffic. He was declared dead at the scene.

The woman was not injured.

Police say neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
