Pistons' Ben Wallace Waives Drunken Driving Hearing

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace has waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of drunken driving and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.

Wallace and his attorney were in 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills on Monday and they indicated they would waive a hearing to determine whether there was enough evidence for him to stand trial. The case will move to Oakland County Circuit Court.

Defense attorney Steve Fishman said he would look at reports in the case before deciding how to proceed.

Police in nearby Bloomfield Township said the 37-year-old Wallace was arrested during a traffic stop about 3 a.m. Sept. 24 after officers observed a Cadillac Escalade being driven erratically. Police said they found an unloaded pistol in a backpack.
